Quality
If you are ordering a product that will utilize a photographic image that you provide, the quality of that image is critical to the quality and appearance of the finished product.
The image must be:
- High resolution
- Sent as an email attachment, not embedded within an email message. You may also send us a physical photograph to work from. Your picture will be returned with your memorial product.
- Sent at full size. Do not allow your e-mail program to send smaller image files.
It is important to know that your computer screen likely displays images at 72 or 96 dots per inch (DPI) and they look very good but this would not be the case if the images were printed or engraved. For printing or engraving, 300 DPI or higher is required.
A good rule of thumb is that the minimum file size for images you are sending us to be engraved should be 1.5 MB for images that will be engraved up to 5”x7” and 2.5 MB for images that will be engraved up to 8.5” x 11”. If your file sizes are larger than this, that is even better.
Another good rule of thumb is if you have a 3.0 megapixel digital camera that is set to the highest quality setting in your options menu, this will likely produce an image we can use on most of our products except the 8.5”x11” or larger engravings. If you have a 4.0 megapixel or larger digital camera set to the highest quality setting, we can likely use your image for all of our products.
If you are scanning a photo to send to us, please clean the glass on your scanner first and scan the image in full colour with the DPI settings set to at least 300.
